Here is a story about my pet frog. His name is Blackey. He is a Pac Man Frog. He barely moves. He just waits for his meal to come by which is usually crickets. He loves crickets. He sometimes will try to eat worms too, but he likes crickets better. I made him a cake for his birthday made out of worms and crickets. Blackey is going to be a big frog when he gets older. I love him and sometimes take him on trips. He is my friend. I like to draw pictures of him and make him gifts.
Blackey is green with black spots.
When he is fully grown, he will scream when he hears loud noises like the vacuum! That will be really cute!
His scientific name is Ceratophrys.
How to take care of your Pac Man Frog:
Pac Man Frogs like to live in substrate. Substrate is a special kind of dirt that they can burrow into. They love to hide in it. You want to make sure your tank is big enough to hold a lot of substrate. My Pac Man Frog's tank is 10 gallons. It holds a lot of substrate.
Never use tap water with your frog! This can hurt them. Instead, use filtered or purified water. I have a special filter to make water for his tank. We used to have to buy bottled water for him before we got his new filter.
Make sure he has a water bowl. Frogs don't drink! They soak the water through their skin. They need to soak every day. Make sure your frog has clean, filtered water every day.
Make sure your frog has a UV light. Pac Man frogs need this light to make Vitamin D and be healthy. He needs to sunbathe every day!
Make sure you have lots of crickets or other bugs for them to eat. Also, be sure your crickets are supplemented with Calcium. This is a special vitamin that frogs need to be healthy. Plus, it is fun to watch them catch the crickets!
These steps make for a healthy and happy frog! :)
Love you Landon! You have sure been learning lots about frogs!
