Sprouting Micro Greens

We are growing our own Sunflower sprouts and Radish sprouts. These sprouts are superfoods and contain lots of amazing nutrients. We usually get our microgreens from our favorite place called Pilgrim's Market, but now we can grow our own! The sprouts take about a week from planting to harvest. We are on day 2 right now. For the first two days, we saturated the soil and then put the seeds on the very top. We put the lids on each container and sealed them tightly. We placed them in a dark closet for the first two days so the seeds would know it is time to sprout. Once the two days are over in the dark, we will open the lids and put them in the sun. They will then begin to sprout and in a few days, we can cut them and harvest them to eat. They will keep growing new sprouts for us to harvest.

Here is a picture of what they look like today, on day 2.

Here are the Radish sprouts today. The seeds for these are much smaller than the Sunflower seeds.

Here are the Sunflower seeds. It is easier to see the sprouts when you look from the side so there is a picture from the side.

So many little sprouts! :)

We used to grow our own sprouts. We haven’t done it for a long time. Maybe we will try it again. 🐧🐧
