The Search for the Southern Leopard Frog Continues

This week I have been looking out for a Southern Leopard Frog. In my other story, you can learn more about that type of frog. I did not find one on this trip, but I did find some other friends that were pretty cool too.

In this picture I could see some air bubbles coming up to the surface. Was it the Southern Leopard Frog?

My mom found this giant Bumblebee on the side of the lake. It was buzzing so loudly that we could hear it from far away. It looks like he was pollinating these flowers. Here is a picture of him:

Interesting Facts about Bumblebees

  • There are more than 250 different types of Bumblebees.

  • Unlike honeybees that like to live in groups, Bumblebees do not. They also do not swarm.

  • They do not die if they use their stinger like some other types of bees do.

  • They hibernate under the ground.

We also found a huge Osprey nest on top of a power pole. Here is a picture of it. The mommy Osprey was in the nest, but we could not see the babies from where we were standing. We had my dog on his leash and were worried about getting too close because we did not want to scare the mommy. Here is the picture:

Interesting Facts about Osprey
